Taking on new supervisees

About me

I love working alongside colleagues and supporting them to develop their skills and see things from different angles and possibilities. I also learn a huge amount from everyone I supervise, and find the process endlessly fascinating and rewarding.

I’ve been an HG supervisor since 2015, working with colleagues from trainee to supervisor level. I also do a fair bit of clinical supervision with external organisations, mostly group work with specialist frontline staff on helplines in charities; also one-to-one supervision with people working at all levels, as well as regular group relaxation and mindfulness sessions.

I’ve done supervision with people in many different countries and generally work online with supervisees. And if you’re in the Bristol area I’m always open to walk and talk sessions in the lovely countryside here.

I’d say that my principal supervision style is a creative, curious and collaborative approach. I tend to have lots of ideas and keep an eclectic range of notes and materials which I am always happy to share, if relevant. In therapy I aim to keep a lightness of touch and language, and use humour where appropriate to build rapport and help clients feel comfortable and more optimistic. I try and tap into the way each client’s imagination works to help them get the best out of each therapy session.

My areas of specialism started out mainly focussing on children and young people, as well as complex and long-term trauma for all ages. Recently I’ve been delving more into couples work and learning more about ADHD and how it affects people’s lives. I work with pretty much the full range of challenges that people of all ages bring to therapy and supervision. I’ve also devised and run various training courses and provide clinical supervision with groups and individuals working on the front line in charities.

If you want to contact me for a quick no-obligation chat, or to find out more, just get in touch.

NB – I am insured to work with people from around the world, including North America. I’m also currently learning a lot about ADHD support, and hope eventually to add this as an additional area of specialism
