Loneliness and social isolation
with Carmel Austin
The Good Mental Health Podcast: Episode 18
After nearly three decades working & studying in the Health & Social Care sector, Carmel Austin set up her own wellbeing practice in 2016. Carmel is particularly interested in helping people deal with loneliness and social isolation – an interest which stems from her time managing West Norfolk Befriending, where she was employed to set up and develop a service to help tackle the growing problem.
As with so many of our essential emotional needs, our need for connection is rooted in those long gone days when we had to hunt for food and defend ourselves against predators and rival tribes. Alone, we would not have survived. Together, we had a much better chance.
Sometimes in life we have to make a choice and take a chance, otherwise nothing changes.
