About me
My background is in the NHS, where as an occupational therapist I specialised in neurology for much of my 37-year career. So I know something of what it’s like facing life challenges; such as a long-term diagnosis with its uncertainties and limitations; or the upheaval of sudden change such as stroke or brain injury; the challenge of trying to re-establish roles in work and family, or caring for a loved one who is no longer quite the person you knew. Sometimes, little steps can make a big difference.
My working style is collaborative, as every patient/client has a unique set of personal priorities. Having worked in a close team including regular supervision to junior staff, I’m also well acquainted with some of the work, stress and life issues that staff can struggle with.
The Human Givens understanding of our needs and innate resources connected well with my OT work and resonates with many aspects of life for me.
Outside counselling, I co-host a weekly wellbeing cafe helping reduce social isolation in the local community. I enjoy writing, making music and spending time with our young grandchild.
I have an enhanced DBS disclosure and am happy to take referrals from NHS and other agencies. Email me to arrange an initial chat over the phone.

Testimonials
"Human Givens is more likely than other 'therapies' to help you through the difficult and/or traumatic times you are experiencing. It is much more appropriate to seek help and support from an HG therapist than trying to go on alone, continuing to struggle and reducing your chances of living a better, more fulfilling life."
"Take that first step - you won't regret it."
