Testimonials

When Carmen and Linda, proposed the Just What We Need programme we were delighted to support it, as an opportunity to apply Human Givens therapeutic principles in a group environment.
The Just What We Need programme ingeniously tackled challenges of helping individuals to understand their emotional needs and how to get then met in healthy ways in their environment,

Even though I was an experienced trainer, I was extremely nervous about attending the course, as I hadn’t done anything like this for some years. I needn’t have worried. Carmen & Linda created an immediate atmosphere of calm, fun, enjoyment & challenge. It was an amazing refresher into JWWN. The 4 days went so quickly and each day I gained in confidence. It clearly demonstrated to me the value this would be to Veterans trying to move on with their lives after suffering PTSD. The training gives a clear framework & structure and is adaptable for anyone who is a little “lost” in their lives. With the opportunity to work with other members of the course in either a duo or trio, I was able to quickly form bonds & find out lots about the other course members. We had such a laugh, and this kind of camaraderie & “banter” is perfect for ex Service personnel.

JWWN facilitator ( 4 day Just What We Need Facilitators training)

Carmen has helped me understand my feelings and how to process them. We have worked on breathing exercises and how they help to keep calm. These sessions helped me through a very difficult time in my life. I learned a bit about myself and how I was already coping quite well, but with Carmen’s help, I have developed more strategies and gained more confidence.

YMCA client (6 sessions)

After my first session I was left feeling that a weight had been lifted from my shoulders and I had finally found someone in Carmen that was totally honest and had excellent listening skills, the likes of which I had not experienced before.
I have now had two sessions with Carmen, both completely absorbing, which has taught me to deal more clearly with my issues. What Carmen did was to make me realise through our discussions that the guilt I had was totally misplaced. I was not responsible for the actions carried out at the time. I was following orders.
I look forward to continuing my sessions with Carmen as I know my personal objectives are being archived successfully. I would therefore recommend PTDS Resolutions to any Ex Servicemen who might need help.

Veteran from PTSD Resolution ( 6 sessions)

I have worked in healthcare for many years and am so use to listening to patients and helping them with their health concerns but had never considered that I was unable to do this for my own health concerns. At my very first session with Carmen, I was able to talk freely about my own health concerns out load without feeling that I was being judge and in a very safe space. I found that by voicing my concerns this then enabled me to focus on them and made me realise that things needed to change. Carmen then worked with me, listening and giving me the tools and resilience to work through my problems and work out what changes I needed to resolve the issues I was facing. This has given me the ability to consider things in a completely different way and has shifted the focus on what I consider important. I have never previously accessed any talking services as I had always felt that I was strong and able to deal with most things and that needing help in this way reflected poorly on me as a healthcare professional
but having had such an overwhelmingly positive experience I would definitely access this service with Carman again.

Medical staff member ( 6 sessions)

I had in February of 2021 experienced life changing issues. From a marriage breakup, loss of job and family home. I became homeless and was taken in by the above Shelter.
I suffered from depression and was on anti depression tablets. My wellbeing was a concern.
I had never had to ask for help before and started my sessions with Carmen, very quickly with what was discussed in our sessions I became focused and with guidance I started tackling one thing at a time. I started to feel confident again and believe I had a worth and looked forward to the sessions to share my direction and get support on further advice to continue my journey.
5 months later I how have my own home, off my medication, made new friends and have just recently started a new job.
I could not of got through this traumatic time without the support I received and dare not think where I could be now.
This service would benefit other people who are or have been through any traumatic experience in the future and I hope the support service continues in the future.
