I work face-to-face and remotely via Zoom.
Twenty first century life can be challenging, stretching our resources to the limit which can lead to stress, anxiety, phobias, anger, trauma or depression. My role is to help you to feel better quickly and create a life that works well for you.
I practice brief solution focused therapy using the minimum number of sessions to bring about change. This is very much a collaboration – we work together to make the changes you want to make, in a way that is right and comfortable for you.
We will not spend a lot of time talking about your past but look to the future, helping you to feel calmer and build resilience. I will enable you to understand what is happening when you feel depressed, angry or anxious, and provide you with practical tools and skills to enable you to feel better quickly.
A typical session will include gathering information about you, your life and how the problem is affecting you. We explore your strengths and resources, agree clear goals and a strategy for change and using a range of therapeutic tools we begin the process of change. Typically 4-6 sessions are needed; occasionally we may need to work together for longer.
We know that we have physical needs that must be met for us to survive and thrive. What we often forget is that our emotional needs are just as crucial for physical and emotional wellbeing. We will identify which of your emotional needs are not being met and then work together to enhance your resources to meet those needs and build resilience.
I have a background in nursing and education for parenthood and work with adults, couples, teenagers and children.
You are welcome to phone me prior to arranging to come and see me.
