Taking on new supervisees

About me

I have been an accredited Human Givens supervisor since 2009 and currently work with over 20 supervisees; both fully qualified and trainee therapists from Human Givens and other modalities which align with the Human Givens ideas. Supervision is one of the most rewarding parts of my professional life. I enjoy working with other therapists, supporting and building confidence and competence in their skills and practice as well as teaching and coaching trainees through part three and celebrating their success on qualifying.

My aim as a supervisor is to:

  • Share experience and knowledge
  • Hone reflective practice
  • Help therapists maintain safe and ethical working practice
  • Work through difficult cases together
  • Encourage focus on clients’ needs and resources
  • Explore other ways of looking at cases
  • Facilitate further learning through CPD and client work
  • Celebrate successful outcomes

Many therapists work in isolation, and regular supervision helps to bridge that gap, build or restore confidence and ensure they have the spare capacity to do the job they do safely and ethically. Therefore, regular supervision is essential for any practising therapist and should be both a rewarding and constructive experience.

If you think you might be interested in working with me, please get in touch by phone or email.

Ethics and privacy

I work in accordance with the Human Givens Institute code of ethics for good practice and professional conduct policies. The Human Givens Institute is accredited by the Professional Standards Authority and a member of SCoPEd. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office for data protection purposes.

Testimonials

"It’s been really good to talk through cases which had me scratching my head. Great to get extra ideas to make my work more effective."

HG Therapist, Jersey

"Sue is a wise and professional supervisor. She was able to quickly put me at ease, and welcomes my difficult or challenging questions and concerns. She has supported and helped me to grow in confidence working with a diverse range of clients, and encouraged me to keep learning and take a trauma course. She shares her experience and knowledge thoughtfully and is particularly helpful in encouraging my personal reflection with enough challenge to allow me to develop as a counsellor. Her supervision support is invaluable, and I am happy to recommend her to my peers."

Counsellor, Wiltshire

"Sue has been an outstanding guide and mentor throughout my journey to achieving the Part 3 practitioner qualification. She first introduced me to Human Givens in a different context, which led me to choose her as my trainee Supervisor—a decision that has proved invaluable.
From our very first session, Sue provided the confidence I needed to begin working with my first training client. Her insights advice and encouragement were always timely and thoughtful, especially as I dealt with increasingly complex issues brought by my training clients. And her thoughtful feedback and meticulous preparation ensured that I was fully ready for my final, Part 3 week, making it an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Sue's skilful supervision has been instrumental in my professional development. Even after becoming fully qualified, I've chosen to continue with her as my supervisor, and I'm looking forward to deepening my practice with her expert, insightful, and confidence-inspiring support."
