About me

A. Justin Lampropoulos is a trainee Human Givens Therapist with a strong academic and clinical foundation in applied psychology. He is currently undertaking a Diploma in Counselling Psychology at The Open University (expected 2025) while also pursuing a degree in Applied Psychology at London Metropolitan University. His primary research and application interests lie in affective neuroscience, cognitive-emotional integration, and the therapeutic modulation of emotional dysregulation in conditions such as anxiety, depression, and trauma-related disorders.

His work is grounded in the Human Givens model, which posits that psychological well-being is contingent upon the fulfilment of innate emotional needs and the optimisation of cognitive resources. Within this framework, he explores the role of affect regulation in psychopathology, particularly in relation to the disruption of homeostatic emotional processes. His interests align with contemporary research on the neurobiological underpinnings of emotional processing, including the interplay between the limbic system, prefrontal executive function, and autonomic nervous system regulation in clinical presentations of distress.

Justin’s academic trajectory integrates insights from affective neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and psychophysiology, with a particular emphasis on how maladaptive affective states contribute to clinical pathology. He is particularly interested in how interventions such as guided imagery, psychoeducation, and autonomic recalibration techniques can facilitate the restoration of affective equilibrium. His engagement with trauma studies extends to the neurobiological consequences of prolonged hyperarousal states and their remediation through structured, evidence-based methodologies.

Through his training and research, Justin seeks to contribute to the refinement of affect-based therapeutic approaches, bridging the gap between empirical psychological science and pragmatic clinical application. His work underscores the necessity of an integrated, neurocognitively informed model of mental health care that enhances emotional resilience and cognitive adaptability in therapeutic contexts.
