About me

My name is Sarah Houldsworth Bsc, PhD. I am a graduate HG Dip P (trainee) in other words a trainee human givens therapist working towards my full Practitioner Level Qualification in Human Givens Therapy. Previous to working in mental health I enjoyed a 30yr+ career as a professional Earth Scientist in industry. Qualified to PhD level and previously working in a very technical field I understand the demands of the workplace, the stresses this can cause and the how these demands change with being a parent juggling family and career. In fact, it was the juggling of all those demands that ultimately led me to wanting to be of service to life and to my retraining in psychotherapy.

I have a deep love for, respect and knowledge of the natural world and this forms one of the resources we can draw on to support you in our sessions together and you may find a “walk and talk” approach beneficial if this is of interest. I care deeply about helping you to get your life working for you so you can thrive. I work face-to-face mostly in the Edinburgh and I also offer an online service for those further afield unable to travel or meet in-person.

Testimonials

From our first meeting I felt I could trust Sarah. She listened actively and quickly grasped my concerns and emotional needs. What struck me was her presence (online), the calmness and warmth in her voice and words, which helped me to be at ease and open up to her and myself. After every session I felt encouraged and a growing optimism about being on a trajectory that has allowed me to better deal with my challenges, and proactively reduce stress and anxiety. Our meetings were insightful and empowering and have helped me tremendously. Thank You!
