About me
John is a leading accredited psychotherapist and counsellor, with a wealth of experience, gained over more than three decades of private practice, helping people to find peace and contentment, and to build a strong foundation for their mental and emotional health. John’s reputation, more recently, has been built through his success in helping people who have progressed into their adult years, but with an undiagnosed neurodivergent condition, and he regularly assesses adults for ADHD and autism spectrum conditions.
His work covers all aspects of mental and emotional health, but he is particularly successful in helping those struggling with sleep issues, trauma, PTSD, anxiety and addictions, including smoking cessation. His work has taken him into companies and organisations to consult on culture change, designing and building healthier and more rewarding workplaces, enabling organisations, and the people within them, to thrive.
Thousands have benefitted from John’s work as a supervisor and tutor in helping other therapists achieve and maintain high standards in their own work. As a HG supervisor, John has a particular interest in helping trainees on their journeys from part 2 to part 3 and a full diploma, making it enjoyable and interesting, and even having fun along the way. He is very relaxed in his style of communication, but supportive in helping trainees to achieve their goals in being HG therapists.

Testimonials
"I struggled for a long time with anxiety, which soon grew into depression, and life seemed like a burden I could barely carry anymore. John helped to lift these burdens with simple steps to make life slightly easier, focusing on what was already working and how I could change the way I was thinking to build a better life. He empowered me for the first time in my life. Two years out of anxiety’s cage and I am taking risks that would have petrified me, and facing life head on with an honest confidence and happiness."
"John runs a tight ship, which means that when you are with him, he is fully there. He genuinely cares that you learn to be a truly effective therapist. He supervises, and at the same time he encourages and inspires. You can really feel the experience behind his responses and advice, and this contributes immensely to a form of transmission, from supervisor to supervisee, and in turn to the client. His guidance instills confidence and clarity."
"In my late forties John assessed me for having an autism spectrum disorder, and he then convinced me very quickly that it is not a disorder, but merely a slightly different way of experiencing the world. He inspired me to realise I could enjoy life, really for the first time ever. I could relax enough to laugh and find healthy ways to connect with people. He went above and beyond, supporting me while I came off meds which had been damaging me for decades."
