Colin Mawhinney

I am a Column B SCoPEd accredited HG supervisor. After a career specialising in behaviour change for over 30 years in both the public and private sector, I became an HG Therapist in 2012 and a HG supervisor in 2022.

I’ve already supervised trainees from Part 2 through to Part 3 of the HG Diploma in addition to supervising HG therapists with many years of experience. I’ve also provided supervision to professional nursing staff in a hospice (5 years) and counselling support team in an addiction treatment centre over the last year.

Experience in these multidisciplinary settings has enable me to develop an approach to HG supervision which recognises each supervisee’s individual strengths and I support them to tailor these to their role as an HG therapist for either Part 2–3 training and also post qualification development and particularly for complex/ difficult case work.

I also work as a (volunteer) mediator and in conflict resolution in the community.
