About me

When someone’s daily life is beset by a personal difficulty and they cannot find a way through it for themselves, they can suffer from distressing feelings of insecurity and loss of control. Human givens psychotherapy aims to restore that control in the shortest time possible by working with effective tools and modern knowledge to resolve most difficulties, whether expressed as trauma, anxiety, phobia, depression, addiction, or other obstacles to well-being.

Many problems are rooted in some form of stress. Having spent some years as a television producer, I have direct experience of a pressurized work environment and the stresses that often go with it.

After experience of several psychotherapeutic approaches, I completed the Human Givens Diploma in 2008 and the Practitioner Level Diploma in 2013. Besides my private practice, I also work at two charities, the City & Hackney Carers Centre and a branch of Mind in London, and have given workshops and provided therapy for clients across a large range of problems.

I hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate.

Most sessions last between 60 and 75 minutes.

Testimonials

“I'm doing great! Thank you so much for all your help getting to this point. I never thought I could actually make it happen. Thank you - you're amazing.”

Young person - moving from depression into employment

“I was surprised and greatly relieved to find that you were not going to encourage me to go through my trauma story, as I had done in psychotherapy prior to our meeting. Instead, I quickly became deeply relaxed, drifting off, with the sound of your voice around me. I still have the memory of the event, but when it comes back I’m not so agitated, not so afraid. I was amazed by the change it made to me in such a short period of time.” (1 session)

Health visitor - recovering from trauma

“Is it the therapy or the therapist? Both were excellent for me and have helped more than methods tried in the past. Now, whenever obsessive thoughts threaten to invade my consciousness, which happens much less frequently, I find it easier to banish them. Thank you!”

Voice coach - overcoming intrusive thoughts

“Life was miserable when I had to do the cleaning, clearing out cupboards, or even in the garden, and if a spider got on me I’d nearly have a heart attack. In the car, we’ve had to make an emergency stop holding up all the traffic and I couldn’t get back in. I have much more control now. I don’t like spiders, but I can trap them and turn them out down the garden. I’m delighted!” (1 session)
