About me

I am a practising counsellor in Human Givens Therapy with many years experience covering all areas of emotional health and wellbeing.
My specialisations include Trauma and I have worked extensively with ex-serviceman’s charity PTSD Resolution. I have a particular interest in Men’s Mental Health and links with lots of excellent groups in the local area. I do work with people of all genders, however, and with young people. I have Enhanced DBS Clearance with yearly update.

I have adapted counselling for people who have Learning Disability with great success, including those on the Autistic Spectrum.

During my career as a nurse I have worked in a variety of settings in hospital and community. I led a local charity in Bolton for 27 years, which supported people with disabilities and mental health problems. Our organisation adopted the principles of the Human Givens Approach and we developed a wide range of therapeutic activities to ensure Human Needs were well met, thus ensuring continuous growth and development for our clients.

Currently I work Monday to Thursday as Clinical Lead for another local company in Bolton, supporting people with complex mental health problems.

I have developed expertise in work stress and sickness counselling and this is part of my current role.

I am available on Fridays for private counselling, practising from a comfortable office adjacent to my home. I am able to accommodate appointments on other days in evenings or weekend. I can travel to clients in Bolton and surrounding areas, or provide online sessions.
