About me

You know the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”? Maybe you’re in a place to also know how far removed that ‘village’ feels when you’re confused, anxious, even traumatised, around a pregnancy, birth or a postnatal experience (even if you only witnessed it!). It’s hard to feel listened to and understood, let alone helped. That ‘village’ is an evolutionary, important emotional need, never more so than in a system that can gas-light and belittle trauma and loss (real or perceived) around childbirth.
I have a deep reverence for the transitional process of birth, and for the emotional needs and rights around birth. I have years of NHS midwifery experience, which has provided enormous scope for trauma informed care, reflection, resolution and individualised, client focused support.
I have now coupled this midwifery expertise with Human Givens (Trainee) psychotherapy and counselling, to help you pinpoint those unmet needs, identify your own goals and access your own resources towards clearer thinking at a time and a pace that works for you and your new family. When our brains are tired and the emotional responses are spiralling out of control, it’s so difficult for us to problem-solve and be able to focus on changing those worry patterns. Why not ‘borrow’ my brain? I can share my practical solutions focused approach and I can use effective, up-to-date, and often quite fast techniques to help you find resolution towards emotional wellness.
I’m happy to work with you in your home (lets discuss travel costs), or in a space away from the pull of parenting duties. I can be flexible with dates and respond promptly to urgent requests. Call or email, and I can answer any questions you have.

Testimonials

"I was nervous about really focusing on the loudness of the dangerous moments around my birth experience, but I needn't have been. Facing the worst in such a way may well be the best thing I've done in order to unlock all the beautiful things that are happening every day now."

New mum, after a birth emergency of second baby

"Trudy helped me realise and build confidence to start manifesting change for my journey to begin moving forward. I found it very healing."

Mother, with significant anxieties, and feeling let down by the maternity system

"You broke it all down perfectly. I have so much respect for you sharing your overview of everything with us, it has made it all feel so much less daunting, and less triggering than it could have been. A truly gracious and perceptive human being with the kindest heart."
