For most of the year, I work from my home in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, where I see all clients in person.
I consider that my role as therapist is to make myself redundant as quickly as possible and my clients' job is to help me to do that. I am happy to see people of all ages, face to face. I do not undertake online therapy.
I currently take referrals from individuals, parents, doctors, solicitors and the local authority.
I undertake specialist referrals from the family courts, in cases of child protection, where I work with parents who want their children returned from local authority care.
I qualified initially as a paediatric nurse (RSCN) and specialised in the care of children with various forms of heart disease.
I retrained in the 1990s in Psychology and Psychotherapy (Transactional Analysis) and worked for a number of years in NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) departments. During that time, I carried out numerous assessments and follow-up treatment of children, ran a number of parenting groups and worked as a therapist in a Youth Offending Team.
I also worked as a visiting therapist for HMP Service for 6 years.
On discovering Human Givens therapy, I completed the training and have worked with this model ever since. In my opinion, it is superior to any other model of therapy that I have come across. It can be applied to almost any area of mental health and recovery from trauma is remarkably swift and it is permanent.
I hold an Enhanced DBS.
