I first came across the Human Givens model, after the completion of my doctoral schooling in the San Francisco Bay area.

I have over 25 years experience in mental health and well-being.

I have been a secondary school teacher since 2003 and in recent years have become acutely aware of the increase in mental health issues for young people.

I am a fully qualified HG counselor /psychotherapist.

I run face-to-face sessions in Yorkshire including in Leeds, York, Hull and Bridlington. I run online sessions wherever you are in the world. 

I have a deep understanding about mental health and wellbeing, and experience of working with people in tnany different situations in their lives. Clients feed back that I am calm, warm and approachable - that they feel accepted and comfortable being themselves. The approach aims to help people to overcome problems that might at first feel overwhelming, breaking down complex issues into practical, manageable steps. My goal is to build hope, motivation and a clear focus to achieve the positive changes that matter to you. 

I trained and worked as a medical doctor in the NHS for over the past 23 years, specialising as a GP.  I was also an academic researcher and Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen where I taught mental health to senior medical students. I have extensive and varied experience of working with a wide range of mental health problems in a variety of settings within the NHS including general practice, accident and emergency departments, and in psychiatric departments. I have experience of mild psychological distress to severe debilitating mental health crises. I am now trained and currently working as a psychotherapist

I graduated in medicine at the University of Edinburgh in 1985 and have enjoyed working as a doctor in a wide variety of medical settings.

Julian has twelve years' experience as a practising Human Givens therapist working in private practice as well as for a mental health charity in north east England.

I’ve developed my therapy practice based in Tonbridge since 2001.
